“Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is one of the most flawless songs to emerge from the 80s — smooth, melodic, and strangely comforting despite its heavy themes.

The opening guitar riff instantly pulls you in, setting a breezy yet thoughtful tone. Curt Smith’s vocals glide effortlessly over shimmering synths and crisp drums, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and timeless.

Lyrically, the song is smart and subtle, exploring ambition, power, and the chaos of the world with a gentle touch. It’s uplifting, reflective, and endlessly replayable — a true masterpiece of the era.
