Dramatically set on its 70-foot rocky peninsula in a meandering bend of the River Wear, Durham is steeped in history and one of the most picturesque cities in the UK. Whether you fancy a wander to take in the sense of days gone by, or a bite to eat in the many local restaurants, the panoramic views from every vantage point make the city a holiday destination not to be missed. A visit to the World Heritage site of Durham Cathedral and Castle is a must. For a dose of fresh sea air, Seaham Beach is only a short drive away.

With on-site facilities including a kid's play area, and an indoor play area in nearby Newton Aycliffe to help keep little ones entertained, Durham Grange Club Site is a great choice for those with children. A public footpath runs from near the site through fields, leading down to a river and woodland. Other benefits of the site include a dog walk. Book a pitch at camc.com/uk-holidays
