✨ Steven Green. ✨ A volunteer recruitment specialist with RedCross_Miss, he's making a difference in his own community through our Community Adaptation Program in Yazoo County, Mississippi. ❤️

He's dedicated to working with local nonprofit organizations to support families who are struggling to cope with more frequent and intense disasters and increase access to:

🩺 Health and mental health services.
🥘 Nutritious food.
🏠 Safe housing.

"This local community is known for tornadoes. As soon as the clouds come, this community usually braces for impact," he explained. "There are families that are lost, there are families that are hungry, there's power that is out. There are people that are in need."

"I'm born and raised in Mississippi, so I know exactly what it means to have community partnership. I have a heartbeat for service, a heartbeat for my community. No one person can do it alone. I just believe when you breathe that hope and support into other people, the impossible can happen."

We're thankful for dedicated volunteers like Steven who are working in targeted communities across seven states to support local nonprofits and strengthen their capacity to serve families. While this program is in its early stages, we're excited about this important work and are looking forward to adding more teams in communities over the next several years.
