De Quervain tenosynovitis is characterized by restricted, painful movement of the fibro-osseous sheath of the abductor pollicis longus (APL) and extensor pollicis brevis (EPB) tendons at the wrist.
It should be considered a tendinopathy because it is an overuse tendon injury not always associated with inflammation.
