⚡ Lastly, let's explore what we mean by 'High-Impact' in our mission statement!

In the context of our student sponsorship program, we use data to guide our decisions about who to sponsor, and to determine how sponsorship impacts students' achievement, in order to maximize the impact of our program.

For example, when selecting students for the program, we first do a comprehensive data-driven assessment of different attributes of a student's academic performance, financial hardship, and community support. 

Our staff visits each student at their home, meets their family members, and conducts a detailed, systematic interview including data points like household income, access to electricity/water, school attendance, previous terms' grades, and we also seek qualitative data from teachers and community members who are familiar with the student. 

After students have started in the sponsorship program, we compare them to a control group of students, similar to a randomized control trial. During the first term of the school year, we identify students not in our program who attend the same schools, are in the same grade, and have similar academic history and financial support. 

Working with the school administrators, we compile grades and attendance at the end of each term, and assess whether the two groups are different in terms of overall performance, retention rates, and performance changes year to year. 

Due to this data-driven approach, as we near the end of the third term of the school year, we will be able to fully compare our sponsorship group versus our control group to ensure our program is having the greatest impact possible.
