I’ve always had credit card height jumping ability. Thank goodness for my high school volleyball & basketball days I was 6’1”! On this day, it felt like I was Air Jordan (maybe Air Jennie🤣). As you can tell I didn’t want to stop jumping.
🥎
The fact was, we had 8 Seniors this year (I was a Junior), they would have been the first class in a long- long time to not have a National Championship Title at @arizonasoftball -4 of those Seniors I had played with since I was 16, our Batbuster travelball days. They were/are big sisters to me. I wanted this for them so badly.
🏆
They deserved it, this year we didn’t have a fancy theme or slogan. We were done with all that mess. It was “Win the last game” PERIOD. Just WIN. Out work everyone in the nation and “win the last game.”
🥇
Fact was my record this year was 31-0 going into this game. Yes, I had an amazing defense behind me and an impeccable offense to go with it. It was our record not just my pitching record. It seemed surreal. Every interview for the last 2 months was all about being undefeated. I tried to escape it but I never could. I said, “there wasn’t extra pressure, I was just trying to help us win!” But the pressure was there and built with every victory.
🙏🏼
Honestly, my prayer was, “Lord, you didn’t get me to the final game of the year for me to have my first loss of the season, did you? All the way here for me to fall short for our Seniors?” That doubt/pressure kept creeping in. All night, all morning, all warm-ups, all throughout the game. I ferociously fought those thoughts & that prayer with “one pitch at a time.” “Believe!” Reciting Phil 4:13 before every pitch, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Constantly, I looked to my teammates as a reminder, focusing on them and not me. I was at my best when I focused on them, trusting their ability and not mine.
😻
Together WE did it! WE “WON THE LAST GAME!”
💙
No matter the stage, no matter the platform, no matter the level- Ferociously Fight y’all! #NotTodaySatan Thanks @ncaasoftball for the flashback. Love my Wildcat sisters! Coaches ( @coachcandrea ) reaction does me in every time, I love him! He led us to greatness. #pressureisaprivilege
