Chassis 0124 - Black "the Spare"⁠

In order to maintain the level playing field, Porsche supplied three additional IROC RSR race cars as spares...since racing happens.  Two cars suffered damage in the first race, and the spare Black car was called up for the next IROC race at Riverside International Raceway and it didn't look back. ⁠

George Follmer started in 9th, but took the checkered flag.⁠
⁠
In the next race Mark Donohue and the black RSR were untouchable and took the win - two IROC starts, two IROC wins. ⁠
⁠
After a few more victories and podiums around the US, during testing in late 1974 the Black car ended the season shiny side down. The drivetrain was stripped to continue racing, while the body sat badly damaged until 2007/08 when it underwent a full restoration.⁠
