June 21st. Never in a million years would I have thought that after 4 full-term pregnancies, I would experience an unexpected preterm birth. 🥺

To say I was afraid would be an understatement. To say I questioned my faith would simply make me human. But God reminded me not to let my flesh question what He could make possible for me and my baby boys.

The morning I went into labor, I cried because I knew there was nothing the doctors could do to stop what was happening. My boys were ready to come without warning. Will could see the fear in my eyes and kept me grounded the entire drive to the hospital. By the time we arrived at the ER, Labor & Delivery requested that I be transferred immediately. As soon as I was checked, the OB on call told me I was already 9cm dilated and that my babies were coming.

After being rushed to the OR Will and I prayed nonstop until I was asked to push. Both boys arrived 20 minutes apart, and both were immediately taken to the NICU.

To give birth and then have my babies taken away from me wasn’t something I was mentally prepared for. A sense of failure and guilt rushed over me. But thanks to my husband, the incredible hospital staff, and, most importantly, my God, I found peace knowing this was all in His divine timing and that my baby boys would be just fine.

I understood the risks that came with delivering at 28 weeker so I made the decision to keep their birth private from family, friends, and the world. I knew our new reality would be an emotional roller coaster. NICU life is an entirely different world. It requires a kind of faith you never knew you needed as you trust that your babies will be okay.

This story could have ended very differently, but God blessed me with two healthy boys and kept me healthy as well. I can’t help but thank the Lord for His mercy, His grace, and His faithfulness through it all ❤️‍🩹
