Faculty Spotlight: Dean Ethan Sullivan, Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduates

We asked Dean Sullivan, “Why BC?” because just like students, faculty members choose Boston College for their own reasons. .
.
Here’s what he had to say: “Well, first of all, it is my alma mater, and I bleed maroon and gold! So, it is pretty special to be back here. But, I have the perspective of being at some other great universities, and even if I was not an alumnus, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Other places I've been have equally powerful and inspiring missions and mottos (like "Veritas;" "Learning, Virtue, Piety;" and "Perstare et praestare"), but I have not been anywhere else where the soul of the university is as lived and breathed as it is at BC. My favorite motto is cura personalis, as I believe it guides interactions between and among all students, faculty, and staff here. Everyone at BC is recognized as a whole person who is loved, known, and cared for.” .
.
