Go behind the scenes with HBCU Gameday’s Steven J. Gaither as Stephen A. Smith and ESPN’s First Take visit Virginia State University during homecoming week!

SJG takes you along for the morning—from arriving on campus and preparing for interviews to catching the energy inside VSU’s Multipurpose Center.

In an exclusive conversation, Stephen A. discusses his promise to legendary Winston-Salem State coach Clarence “Big House” Gaines to never forget HBCUs, the importance of sharing his platform, and his advice for the next generation of journalists.

Virginia State President Dr. Makola Abdullah also joins us to discuss the opportunities a live ESPN production brings students, the return of the College Hill cast, and the pride surrounding VSU’s Trojan Explosion marching band.

It’s a look at HBCU homecoming, national exposure, and the work behind bringing these stories to you—before SJG heads back to Winston-Salem for WSSU’s Hall of Fame ceremony.
