Today was special.

It was my final tune-up competition before Olympic Trials.

I made some good corrections and realize what I need to work on going into these last couple of weeks. And it was pretty stinking special to be at a meet with my longtime coach, Kenny, again.

But as usual, there’s so much more than that surface level description.

I competed here last March as a final push toward Trials when we thought they would be in 2020. It was AWFUL.

I felt hopeless and defeated.

Then the entire world was shut down and for the first time in history, the Olympics were postponed a year.

I was optimistic to have an extra year. I thought it meant I would have an entire year to get comfortable on platform again.

But that’s not what it meant. It meant I would have doubts and fears and zero access to a full platform until 3 months before Olympic Trials.

Nothing in this journey back into diving has been what I expected. I knew it would be hard. I knew it would hurt. I knew there would be heartache. But this journey has been the toughest of my life on many levels.

Every step of this road has been sanctifying and refining. And I count it all as joy.

Plus my kids really enjoyed posing for pictures on the top of the podium 🤩.

Thank you Northside Diving for hosting a great meet!
