Summer is a time for many people to shed something.

Maybe it’s extra hair to stay cool in the heat. Or perhaps it’s a hard earned break from a long school year, or a nice vacation from the grind of work. Or for some it might be the extra stress they’ve been carrying around for far too long. For others it might be extra some pounds that stuck around after the holidays.

For me this summer has been a gift. Over the past year we’ve carried such an emotional burden and been through so much trauma with our adoption, that it’s hard to believe it’s over sometimes. The past few weeks have been busy, but full of fun normal summery things and without the 5,000 pound weight I’ve lugged around on my back for so long. .
