While eriekhulseman was helping demo another house today, the kids and I went on another adventure. .
After we dropped some items off at one school, my friend made me aware of another school in our district that flooded and is having to take up a wing in the new high school. They had many school supply needs, so off to the store we went.
.
As I was attempting to patiently help my kids "help" pick out supplies, one of my girls kept telling me about the things she wanted for herself.
.
It provoked a great talk about what we were there doing. I knelt down and asked her if she would be upset if her school flooded, and she wouldn't be able to go to her class. She thought about it, and said yes. I told her that's what happened to some other kids her age, and that's why we're here- to help those kids, not ourselves. She got the picture and put her things away without being asked.
.
When I looked up, one of the store workers who was a different ethnicity from me caught my eye and started a great conversation.
.
She told me how God uses these tragedies in great ways. The last few weeks all the news has covered is hate between people. She told me how when these tragedies happen there is no black or white, just people. She loved how in the midst of this devastation God is showing his glory through people of all walks of life working and helping together. .
It was a wonderful chat with a complete stranger that felt like an old friend.
