In this review we break down The North Face’s two brand-new Nuptse jackets, released as part of the FW26 “Ever Icons” collection marking the brand’s 60th anniversary. The Nuptse launched in 1992 as part of The North Face’s Nuptse Expedition System — it was mountaineering equipment first, and only later became one of the most recognizable silhouettes in streetwear. These two releases pull the jacket in both directions at once. The Summit Nuptse takes it back to the alpine with 800-fill water-repellent ProDown and Cloud Down construction, an offset baffle design that gives the down more room to loft while cutting the cold spots that plague traditional horizontal chambers. Spectra reinforcement adds abrasion resistance where it counts, and for the first time in Nuptse history there’s an insulated hood — adjustable, packable, and sized to fit over a climbing helmet. It packs into its own pocket, works with TNF’s GORE-TEX Mountain Jacket system, and averages 554g, which TNF says makes it both the lightest and warmest Nuptse they’ve built. The Pertex Nuptse Reversible goes the other way, leaning into the jacket’s cultural life with a fully reversible construction that gives you two distinct looks, built from Pertex fabric with recycled down and recycled nylon.
