In this review we break down KÜHL’s newly reinvented The One Jacket — a piece built on a simple premise: one layer that handles enough situations that you stop thinking about what to grab. For 2026 KÜHL refined the core without touching what made it work. The shell is now a stretch-woven fabric with a softer hand, a matte finish, more give, and better stain resistance than the outgoing version. The underarm gussets have been replaced with updated mesh panels that dump heat more efficiently as conditions shift. And the cut has been reworked for both men and women to move more freely. The engine is unchanged: KÜHL’s exclusive AEROKNIT insulation, an exposed open-loop fleece that creates air pockets for temperature-regulating warmth while staying genuinely breathable — so you don’t cook halfway up a climb that started cold. Exposed insulation means less bulk and a softer feel against skin. Articulated patterning comes straight out of KÜHL’s study of a body in motion, and an internal hem drawcord, stretch cuffs, and reflective trims round it out. At 12 oz in a men’s large it’s a trail layer, an airport layer, and a dog-walk layer without changing clothes.
