In this review, we break down the Salomon Genesis Mid GORE-TEX — a hiking boot with unmistakable trail-running DNA. Salomon built it on the Genesis platform, one of their most versatile trail runners, then added ankle height, a GORE-TEX membrane, and a more hike-focused build. At around 385g (for mens 9) with an 8mm drop, it splits the difference between a trail runner and a traditional hiker.

What we get into:
✅ GORE-TEX in the real world — creek crossings, wet grass & warm-weather sweat
✅ All-Terrain contaGRIP® on wet rock, loose dirt & hardpack
✅ 8mm drop & how the geometry compares to a traditional hiker
✅ Fit and sizing notes — these are a generous fit
✅ Trail-running roots and who benefits from that design
