Leaning back during a nosebleed could cause you to choke or vomit if you swallow the blood. 

Instead, sit slightly forward while pinching your nostrils together. If the nosebleed is severe or gushing, call 911. 

So, if your parents ever told you to lean back when you have a nosebleed, you can tell them we said they’re wrong.
