Youth volunteer John Leopard has grown up with the Red Cross in his life. When he was just 5 years old, he volunteered alongside his grandmother. Ten years later, John is a leader, doing everything from organizing events to supporting shelters after disasters.

John's most memorable volunteer experience was after Hurricane Helene. His family's Georgia home was damaged by the storm, but he was still determined to help others. John helped manage a shelter, setting up a mobile shower and cots, and guided other volunteers as they arrived for their shifts.

“I love being part of the team,” John said. “You can make a difference and see the difference.”

In honor of his dedication and compassionate work, John received the Youth and Young Adult Leadership Award from the GeorgiaRedCross. We’re proud of John and the incredible impact youth volunteers make every day!
