With record-breaking temperatures sweeping across the U.S., it’s more important than ever to protect all our pets from dangerous heat.

Dogs with short snouts, thick or dark coats, or health conditions are especially vulnerable to heatstroke.

Swipe through to learn how you can keep pups cool this summer. If they show signs of heat stress, follow these steps:

1. Move them out of direct heat ASAP.
2. Check for signs of shock.
3. Take their temperature, if possible.
4. Cool them down with cool (not cold) water or water-soaked towels on their head, neck, chest, and paws.
5. Get them to a vet as soon as possible.
