Our volunteers often put the needs of others before their own. Giselle Muniz gave up time with her family during the holidays for her first — and favorite — deployment as a volunteer.

Giselle came to the U.S. in 2016 at age 13 from her native Venezuela. Her upbringing and ability to speak English and Spanish help her serve diverse communities as a Disaster Action Team volunteer. In this role, she helps bring comfort and hope to people after a disaster in the greater San Antonio, Texas, area and around the country.

Volunteering has also helped Giselle prepare for her professional life. She joined the Red Cross in 2023 as a college student. It has helped her gain experience for a career in disaster services and work towards an Emergency Medical Services certificate.

As a bilingual volunteer with Spanish being her first language, Giselle shares a message for those who are bilingual in Spanish and interested in giving back to their community through our mission:

We need passionate humanitarians like Giselle who can make meaningful connections with diverse communities all over the country. Resolve to Volunteer in 2025, and explore the most needed positions in your area through the link in our bio.
