Rubella is a preventable disease that we hope to eliminate with the assistance of volunteers worldwide. Like measles, rubella can be prevented with a safe, effective and affordable vaccine. In countries like Zambia, volunteers are going door-to-door to find pockets of children who are missing routine immunizations. With their support, we're spreading the word about the importance of vaccines!

What else should you know about Rubella?

- Rubella can cause severe health defects in infants if those who are pregnant are infected in the first trimester.
- Babies may be born with Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS).
- CRS often results in heart problems, deafness and blindness.
