This is a glimpse of how Red Cross disaster teams and partners are helping people across southeastern Texas after devastating flooding the past few weeks.

As teams work around the clock to provide shelter, food, relief supplies and medical care to those in need, more torrential rainfall is expected in the already saturated areas.

Follow these tips to keep yourself and your loved ones safe ahead of severe flooding:

- Know the difference between a flood watch and a flood warning. A watch means it could happen, while a warning means it’s imminent or already occurring.

- Don’t try to walk or swim through floodwaters even if it appears to be less than a foot of water.

- Keep pets and small children away from flooded roadways and downed power lines.

- Monitor the weather by following local weather stations and downloading our Emergency app.
