Ananya started her volunteer journey supporting our Missing Maps project, which helps connect people in hard to reach areas to disaster relief. Now, she prepares families for emergencies and even serves as a Red Cross Youth Field Ambassador for RedCrossMO and ArkRedCross. Being on the ground in her local neighborhoods makes Ananya feel most connected to the Red Cross mission. She helps install free smoke alarms in homes through our Sound the Alarm events and educates kids about home fire safety through our Prepare with Pedro program. "Doing what I can to help those around me and help the communities that have aided in my personal growth and development is something that has always been important to me," Ananya said. Ananya is always looking for new ways to make the Red Cross mission more accessible to her peers. She took the lead in thinking of new ways to bring on more volunteers. β€œBeing a rural region, we needed to find a way to engage youth,” Ananya said. β€œWe’re setting up an open house night for any students to come in and see what Red Cross Clubs can do.” We love our forward-thinking youth volunteers like Ananya, who are always thinking of ways to make the world a better place.
