Say hello to Lester Fuzell, a proud Red Crosser who has spent his whole life serving others. 👋🏾

After a nearly 40 year career with the Los Angeles County fire department, he continues to help families after home fires as a Red Cross volunteer.

“When the rug is pulled out from underneath them, it's nice to be able to give them some brightness," Lester said.

After retiring as a fire captain, Lester wanted to continue supporting his community. He joined RedCrossCCR and found his natural fit as a Disaster Action Team volunteer. Since 2022, Lester's responsibilities and compassion have continued to grow within the organization.

“When the Red Cross calls and has a need, I will go,” Lester said.

His first deployment was to help those affected by flooding in Lake Isabella. After setting up a shelter, he was asked to help further as a Government Operations Liaison. Lester didn't think twice about saying yes.

“They believed in me, so I knew that I could do it," he said.

Lester also leads multiple recruitment events to grow his team, encouraging anyone who has a passion to help others to get involved.

"The Red Cross is filled with talented with a desire to help others unselfishly and it’s an honor to be amongst them," Lester said.

We're honored to have you be a part of our lifesaving mission, Lester! ❤️
