Service. Growth. Friendship. 👈🏼 Those are the values that shine through May Nicole Cagulada's experience as a Red Cross youth volunteer.

May Nicole has been with RedCrossLA for over two years. She started her journey in high school, driven by a passion for community service, by launching a Red Cross Club with her peers.

"I was ambitious to gain more experience for college," May Nicole said. "We started organizing blood drives and regular meetings, and that's when it got really rewarding for me."

As she explored more ways to get involved in the mission, May Nicole applied to become a member of her local Youth Executive Board. This leadership group runs events, community service workshops and volunteer trainings for all of the youth volunteers in their region.

She landed the role and began leading educational events about International Humanitarian Law for the Youth Action Campaign. She spoke to hundreds of fellow youth volunteers to teach them about how historical landmarks are protected during conflict and who is in charge of protecting them.

"Our youth are going to be the new leaders of the future," said May Nicole. "It's important to make this information more well-known."

Now in her first year at UCLA, May Nicole is considering studying biochemistry but is keeping herself open to other opportunities. While she has always been interested in a fulfilling career, her experience with the Red Cross has taught her that doing good outside of work would be just as rewarding.

"If I am volunteering in organizations like the Red Cross throughout my career," May Nicole said, "I will feel like I had a successful life." ❤️
