Hurricane Idalia is the fifth major hurricane Lynn and Shane Padgett have lived through AND resulted in the most home damage they've ever experienced. 💔

The Padgett's home in Steinhatchee, Florida, was completely flooded by the storm surge caused by Idalia. Red Crosser Dariana Molina found Shane walking barefoot through floodwaters as he searched for belongings that could be salvaged.

As a result of the climate crisis, hurricanes are becoming more intense and more destructive with increased rainfall and higher storm surges. This is impacting entire communities and the lives of people like Lynn and Shane, who are left to pick up the pieces.

More than 400 Red Cross disaster workers are on the ground right now providing comfort and support to people affected by this storm with more help on the way to support sheltering and relief efforts.
