You’re looking at a 7-year-old lifesaving hero. ✨ Bella ✨ bravely helped save her mom’s life when she experienced a sudden heart attack at home.

In February, Bella’s mom Michelle woke up not feeling well and quickly realized she was having a heart attack. She recognized the signs because of her experience as an EMT and Red Cross CPR instructor.

Bella noticed her mom needed help and quickly called her dad, a Wake County deputy, to alert him of the emergency.

“She called my husband multiple times,” recalled Michelle. “’Daddy, you have to get home. Something is wrong with Mommy.’ And then she started taking care of me, doing everything she could. She was amazing.”

Thankfully, Michelle was able to seek additional medical attention and discovered she had a spontaneous coronary artery dissection, a type of heart attack that only 1% of people experience despite having healthy hearts.

Because of her brave actions, Bella was recognized at her school with a Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action from RedCrossNC. This is a Red Cross Lifesaving Award that is given to people who take action during an emergency to save someone’s life.

Way to go, Bella! You’re an inspiration to us all! 🎉
