When Sterling Molby watched his house go up in flames due to an outdoor grill fire fueled by a 30 mph wind, the MNDaksRedCross volunteer of 11 years didn’t hesitate to call the Red Cross.

After a disaster responder gathered his information and details about the fire, and made sure he and his children had a place to stay, Sterling received financial assistance for temporary lodging and other immediate relief. In the days after the fire, Red Cross responders made sure to follow up and ensure there was nothing else his family needed.

Sterling is extremely grateful for the support he’s received, especially from the same organization he donates his time to. “The outreach has been humbling. Local help has made the devastation a little easier,” he said.
