Come with us to bring home a longhorn!

This weekend another dream came true as I purchased SH Workin’ Melva, an 11 year old Longhorn from Kimes Ranch Longhorns!
Melva was born in Louisiana, lived in Texas and Arizona and will now reside in Idaho for the rest of her days 🥰

Why did I buy a Longhorn? I don’t know, I’ve just always wanted one! 🤪 My relationship with Kimes has grown over the years and when I saw Melva in their sale pen, it just felt right to pursue ownership! My husband is on board and loves her so much already. We are fascinated by her every move.

Melva has been exposed to a bull and could be bred, so if she has a calf this winter, I’ll be sure to share that journey. If not, my brother is certified in AI and maybe this spring I’d breed her! Thats a wholeee different bridge that we’ll cross at a later date. She is mostly here for fun, and I’m sure I’ll add her into my content. She also makes for a pretty yard ornament!!

She is adjusting well, we brought her home Saturday night and today she’s been pretty content, enjoying the green pastures and sunshine. We’ll be buying some yearling steers soon so she can have some buddies. One step at a time y’all!

Some dreams are just meant for diving right in and that’s what I’m doing! I don’t know what the future holds for us and longhorns, but we’re pretty excited to have Melva at our place. She’s totally intimating and one of the most unique animals I’ve ever owned, so I will be working on our friendship with sweets and treats. She will be well loved and taken care of I promise you that! 🥰

Thank you again to Amanda Kimes for letting me buy her, I’m so excited to be apart of the Longhorn family!!!
