I got my first cutting horse lesson this weekend while in Texas thanks to @nchacutting !!!

The NCHA invited me out to @kodyporterfield place and put me on “Rey Luis” for my first lesson. Leading up to the experience, I had all sorts of feelings. I was really nervous, given the fact I am not that confident on a horse in general, I was also really excited. Nothing like pushing your comfort levels with a once in a life time opportunity like this. I knew they’d take care of me and keep me safe and with my travel plans to already be in Texas this past weekend, I said YES!!

Getting mic’d up and filmed by @salty_roan was second nature but holding onto the horn and working the flag with Rey Luis had me sweating 😅 (him and the Texas humidity!)

I not only got to learn from the best, I also got to ask all sorts of questions and Kody answered them all. I learned so much about what goes into training, and competing at cutting horse events. I also now realize what an ART cutting is and it looks easier said than done! 😆🙌🏻

This is hands down an experience I’ll never forget and one I’ll treasure for the rest of my life!! I’m ready for lesson number 2!! @nchacutting Thank you so much for having me out!!!!
