I run the monumental half marathon every year in honor of my mom, Colleen Nelson, who passed away in 2014. My mom loved running & her birthday is November 1. We did this run a few times together and it was always a fabulous memory!! My coping mechanism when I lost her was walking for hours, which then lead to running because that would clear my mind, even if just for a bit! Since the run falls around her birthday I made it my goal to run the race as her birthday present each year. This has allowed me to have a positive way of remembering her and how much she loved running!! This will be the 5th year I do this race in her memory and I am STILL trying to beat 2 hours. I love the monumental and want to keep this tradition for my mom since I know she would be doing it too if she were still here! Thanks for giving me a reason to run! #semicolonproject —————-
