Happy 87th birthday to the legendary Sir Ian McKellen! The star of stage and screen is best known for his roles as Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Magneto in the X-Men franchise. The actor came out in 1988 during a radio debate in opposition to Section 28. McKellen discussed his decision to come out publicly later that year on The Cavett Show, before co-founding Stonewall UK in 1989 🌈 #gandalf #lordoftherings #xmen #comingout #ianmckellen
