PSA: THIS APPEARANCE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE MADE PUBLIC BUT HERE IT IS.

IGNITE GRADUATION CEREMONY 🎓

BACKSTORY:
Genesee county sheriff Chris Swanson invited Jelly Roll (Jason DeFORD) to the Genesee county jail in Flint after seeing him make a stop at a jail over the summer. During that visit, jelly met inmates who are part of the Ignite addiction rehabilitation program, learned about the program, spoke with inmates, and even sang along with them.

In a recent video Swanson said to the singer "Let's do a modern day, 21st-century Johnny Cash in the Genesee county jail." Sheriff Swanson was hoping for a large public greeting but for safety purposes Jelly Roll's team so no to any media or big public greetings.

Jelly Roll has spent time behind behind bars and earned his GED while incarcerated. He is now very supportive of rehabilitating offenders and SO AM I.
It is no secret that I myself have spent time incarcerated. I have not opened up about this much simply because I wasn't ready but seeing the statistics on recidivism (relapse into criminal behavior) rates for our country I've realized that me being silent is not helping anyone. That's the whole reason I'm doing this is to help others not make the same mistakes that I have made. I share my pain path to help you with yours.

So this is an announcement of sorts, I will be opening up more about who I was before I got sober. Please keep in mind that I am not the same person who I was 11 years ago, 15 years ago or 20 years ago. I have worked hard to change my life. I have stayed clean & sober for 11 years. Not a drop of al©hol, or a single nar©tic. So yes I've been to jail, I've been to court, I've been on probation, I was stuck in the system for years and I can tell you from experience that it is damn near impossible to get out of the system once you get in it.
