In September of 2012 I woke up on a ventilator due to an overdose and liver failure. I was dropped off at the ER entrance with no pulse and left for dead. You would think that would be enough right? Nope not for me. Not yet. 
I still went back to my intoxicated lifestyle.
Running 💨 Chasing 💨 Scoring 💨 Using. That was the toxic circle. 
That was my life. 

December 16th 2012 
I woke up and made the decision to stop drinking and using. I had no idea how I was going to do it but I knew I was ready for serious change. I started by isolating myself. I changed my phone number, closed down my social media accounts and went to a sober friends house to get a plan in order. I made an appointment for a recovery doctor and I stayed in my friends house until it was the day of my appointment. 

Those five days were living hell. If you've never kicked opiates and alcohol then it may be hard for you to understand. It's like having the flu but times a thousand and it's extremely painful. I used to explain it like this, imagine all of your bones are filled with tiny little men with pickaxes who are chipping their way out. That's what it feels like over your entire body. It's painful and hard. Knowing that you can just run to one place and it will all stop. That thought plays in your head on repeat constantly.🔁 

EVERY DAY I make the conscious decision to not drink or use. EVERY DAY. 

I share this with you because it's incredibly difficult to find strength in our weakest times but it CAN be done. I've spent the last ten years rebuilding my life. Choosing daily to stop avoiding pain and trauma and face it head on clean and sober. If you are struggling with addiction and don't know where to start or where to turn to that is why I am here. That is why I share my story so that I can help others. It will not be easy but I can guarantee you that it is worth it.
