More than just an upper eyelid surgery..

It’s important to understand that issues in this area are not always due to excess skin on the upper eyelids. Various factors can contribute to a less youthful appearance. 

1- Eyelid Ptosis: For instance, the limited opening of the eyelids can be a result of dysfunctional muscles responsible for eyelid movement. Additionally, eyelid ptosis, where the eyelid droops, can impair vision.For ptosis, we employ procedures like Mullerectomy or Levator surgery to correct eyelid opening. 

2- Descended Brows/Forehead : Another common issue is brow ptosis, where the forehead weighs down on the eyes, causing the eyelids to appear heavy. In such cases, a brow lift or forehead lift can effectively restore a more open, youthful, and energetic look to the eyes.

3- Excess Upper Eyelid Skin : When the concern is limited to the upper eyelid area, we may opt for a more targeted approach, trimming and reshaping the redundant soft tissue.

It’s crucial to identify and address the specific area of dysfunction or aging. For example, performing an upper blepharoplasty on a patient with brow descent may open the upper eyelids but cause further brow descent, resulting in an unnatural appearance. Similarly, a brow lift on a patient with upper eyelid ptosis might exacerbate the ptosis.
