Can we get a 💙 from all of our fellow octopus lovers out here in the IG verse?

On top of winning an Honorable Mention award, Kaiser Louis (17, Florida) won a We All Rise Prize in the 2021 Ocean Awareness Contest for this piece raising awareness about a little known effect of global warming on ocean life 🐙

"While doing research, I found out that as temperatures and waters rise, ocean water can't hold as much oxygen. These rising temperatures lead to less oxygen which leads to vision loss in some marine species like octopuses, crabs and squids," he wrote 😓

"I chose to draw and paint this piece in grayscale because marine species are losing a vital part of their survival. Decreased vision and blindness makes them more susceptible to predators.

As an artist, color is vital to me, so I chose to omit color from this piece to symbolize that."
