This #FeatureFriday, we’re spotlighting one of the awesome 2022 Fellowship grantees: the_bluevoice 🤗

Led by ishan.kapur, a 16-year-old diver from New Delhi, Delhi, India, 🤿 The Blue Voice aims to reduce plastic pollution in local waterways like the Yamuna while supporting housing-insecure and other marginalized populations in New Delhi.

Ishan will be running a plastic bag collection drive, then partnering with the NGO hamari_asha to employ disadvantaged women to crochet the bags into sleeping mats for the unhoused. Not only will the mats help clear water of plastic waste, they’ll also be waterproof, lightweight, transportable, and won’t attract lice or ticks 👍

The Fellowship Program is a future.blue.youth.council grant initiative that gives funding and mentorship to students ages 13-19 who are addressing water-related issues in their communities through new or emerging projects 💧

We’re super excited to see Ishan’s project grow over the next year with the help of the 2022 Council and the grant we’ve awarded him! 😃
