Entanglement in marine debris, such as fishing gear and plastic waste, is a major threat to marine mammals. These curious animals will often explore debris, finding themselves entangled and unable to break free. 🦭
.
By preventing harmful debris from going in to the ocean to begin with, many marine mammals can be saved.
.
Elaine M. (Age 14, Massachusetts) explores this issue and our society's relation to it in her artwork, "Refuge From Home."
