Ocean heatwaves are becoming more and more common due to climate change, impacting marine life all over the world. Record high sea temperatures have triggered the Great Barrier Reef's third major bleaching event in the past five years, causing severe and widespread damage. While corals can heal, it can take up to ten years for corals to fully recover from bleaching events.
