Looking for some advice as you put the finishing touches on your 2019 Ocean Awareness entry in Prose? Check out last year's Silver Winner in Senior Prose, Rachel P. rachel_83729 (Age 18, Massachusetts).
.
Rachel's essay, "Earth’s Underwater Powerhouse: How Global Climate Change Will Affect The Atlantic Thermohaline Circulation And A World That Relies On It" reveals a too often overlooked consequence of climate change.
.
Our judges were impressed with Rachel's ability to illuminate a complex scientific subject while building a riveting and informative essay.
.
Rachel writes, "I chose to write about thermohaline circulation because I want people to become aware of what it is and how it is being changed by human behavior. So long as people remain uninformed, nothing will be done to address its weakening. I want thermohaline circulation to be woven into common knowledge, because that is the only way it is going to be valued and perhaps even saved."
.
Check out the link in our bio to learn how to enter your essay in the 2019 Ocean Awareness Contest. Deadline June 17!
