It's #WorldPenguinDay! DYK there are 18 different species? Many are endangered, threatened, or vulnerable. 🐧
.
In her painting "Knitting the Future," Neha Patel (17, New Jersey) was inspired by a story about volunteers who knit sweaters to help little penguins that were impacted by an oil spill off of Australia's Phillip Island. These sweaters prevented penguins from preening and swallowing toxins before they could be cleaned and returned to the wild.
.
Neha reminds us: "The future is in our hands and we MUST take action through simple acts of kindness."
