Dateline has an in-depth look a homicide case that has caught world attention and one that is playing out right here in Manhattan.

It's the execution-style murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson and the nation's fascination with his accused killer, Luigi Mangione.

Ahead of Dateline's special, "A Killing in Midtown," NBC New York's Erica Byfield sat down with Lester Holt to get a preview of the episode and a look at where the case stands.
