Lets be real, we live in a time where EVERYONE and their mother is a photographer. Whether thats lifestyle photographer, wedding photographer, friends in random field photographer, or portrait mode on an iPhone photographer .
Growing up I remember my parents had a point and shoot camera everywhere we went, and would always get prints done even if they were blurring low quality images. In today’s world, most people have access to smart phones constantly, which are way better than any point and shoot my parents ever had. .
So why even try to be a photographer in this over saturated highly competitive industry of photography? Well its true, anyone can take a photo, but only YOU can see the way you see the world. A person’s perspective is everything. You can teach someone all the technical aspects till your blue in the face, but unless they have the hustle, desire, creativity, eye, and willingness to grow then more than likely that person won’t be in the industry for long. It takes practice, just like anything .
Yes photography is fun, but its also a lot work, long hours, late nights, early mornings, expensive equipments, and unpredictability. Its creative, its frustrating, its exciting, and its challenging. For me, its my passion, clearly,  especially sports. Understanding a team dynamic, the rules of the game, the atmosphere, timing, patience, and finding new ways to “see” will always be exciting to me. Find what you love and do it. Don’t be discouraged by the intimidating amount of photographers out there or that you may not be as good as someone you look up to. There will always be someone better than you, but take that and learn from it and have a humbling heart for criticism and patience. .
