José Ramón Elizondo, a great and avant-garde chef that was a part of the modern pintxos movement in San Sebastián has passed away.  I was 23 when I first met him and worked as an apprentice to him alongside his amazing wife Conchita at the wonderful Alona Berri. His entire family worked in his kitchen and produced some of the most beautiful modern styles of pintxos in San Sebastián during an era where Spain was becoming globally recognised as one of the most cutting edge in modern cuisine.  I will never forget their warmth and passion that they instilled in me.  I was inspired by their love for cooking and discovery of new ways to elevate Spanish cuisine to a point  that would change the world forever.  I send my love to the entire family.
