Energy Savings Tips With PSEG Long Island! I’m a big fan of limiting our energy use as much as possible. I love getting text messages from ‪PSEGLI‬ with our weekly usage so I can see if we used more or less energy than the week before. It’s like a little game to see how the different things we do change our use each week. Additionally, I love these texts and their app for the peace of mind knowing I’ll be notified in the event of a storm or if PSEG Long Island is working on something in the area. So what are my favorite energy tips? ☀️We start each day by opening the blinds and letting in the sun. This brightens up the house naturally instead of turning on the lights. We only flip the switches once the sun sets which helps keep our energy use as low as possible. ☀️We open our windows and use our ceiling fans as much possible. We only turn on the air conditioners on the hottest days. Most nights there is a great breeze giving us cross ventilation which not only feels good but clears out the air in the house. ☀️Pull out those plugs! Our favorite energy savings tip is appliances harness energy if they’re plugged in but NOT in use. That means you’re paying for something you’re not using! Pull out those plugs! This simple step can make a big difference. We plug in our appliances and unplug them as we use them. Also, we pull out our phone chargers before bed. Once everything is fully charged and ready for the next day why keep them in and using energy? But the most exciting news? As big environmentalists we just made the ultimate switch - we bought an electric car! It’s been one week and I am eagerly awaiting my energy report.
