Glassblowing at UrbanGlass In Fort Greene Brooklyn! Glassblowing is near and dear to my heart. I learned how to do it (and became obsessed with it) as a kid at @bucksrockcamp in Connecticut. Then upon my return, my mom found UrbanGlass in Brooklyn. Ever since - and we're talking 20+ years, @urbanglassnyc has been one of my favorite destinations. UrbanGlass offers so many learning opportunities for young people and families as well. Our favorite is their seasonal "Open Studios" (the next one is March 12th, 2023) where you can book a 30-minute time slot online and create (with help - perfect for first timers) a paperweight, or something else for beginners (don't get intimidated, this is where you start!). At this event you can also see demonstrations of: 🔥their hot shop (where large glass pieces are created from molten glass on long pipes) 🔥neon studio 🔥flameworking and beadmaking 🔥fusing, kilnforming and casting For those looking for a longer class experience, UrbanGlass offers tons of classes for adults, as well as youth camps for middle and high school students over school and summer breaks. As they believe art and creating art should be accessible to all (they are a nonprofit!), they offer sliding-scale pricing for youth camps, in addition to some free (!) options as well. If you've been watching @blownawayseries on @netflix or have ever been curious about glassblowing, this place is for you. UrbanGlass is easily accessible from all over the New York and Long Island area - it's a five-minute walk from Atlantic Terminal. If you're on Long Island like me, you can hop on the @mtalirr and be there in an hour. UrbanGlass offers scholarships for most workshops, and runs a free program for women and femmes called The Bead Project. 📍For more fun places to check out around New York, follow @themintchipmama 👩🏻‍🎨🏺🏢 . . . . #glassblowing #ugnyc #urbanglass #glassblowingstudio #glassclass #glassmaking #glasssculpture #glassartist #glassartistsofinstagram #flammework #hotshop #handmadeglass #beadproject #glass #classes #teaching #making #craft #beading #jewelry #art #create #learn #skill #bklyn #brooklyn #ilovebrooklyn #fortgreene #brooklyn #nyc #momsoftiktok #tiktokmom #tiktok
