I want to reveal myself to you; show you the sides of me that fall victim to other’s narratives because I keep them hidden beneath shadows of expectations. The sides that are easier left misunderstood than over explained by a voice less pungent than the projections that combat it. I want you to understand the idiosyncratic moments between question and answer where the universe waltzes in my mind to a rhythm only familiar to those who hear my heart’s song. I want you to peel away the layers of my mind to help me cleanse my thoughts of the doubts and noise that stain the cognizance of my self-awareness.

I want to strip away the shrouds of pretentious notions that rest upon my being as I navigate social interactions with strangers; Undressing the idea that my bare skin reveals anything to its onlookers beyond its melanin.  I want to unravel the need to overcompensate for the presence of curves designed by god in areas that fall outside of the lines that I try to colour within. I want to surrender to your touch; feeling the transferral of our energies intensify as you experience parts of me that remain pure; never before been acquainted with hands guided by love.

I want to expose a side of me that remains obscure even to those that have gazed into my eyes with fervid longing. Show you things I have yet to decipher in hopes that your heart holds the key in understanding the cryptic language mine speaks. I want to submit to you, confident that you will peacefully lead me through life by your side without having to flinch under your strength, but be lifted by it instead. That you will recognize me not for the woman the world celebrates outwardly, but for the woman with whom you honour for cultivating a space of internal serenity, a place we both recognize as ‘home’.
