## Caption

The Immigration (Transition) (Amendment and Validation) Acts of 2025 and 2026 include transitional provisions, commonly referred to as “grandfathering.”

Provisions covered by grandfathering are:
- Existing permissions and in-progress applications are protected under the 2025 legislation
- Qualifying individuals will be assessed based on the law that was in place at the time their application was submitted or granted.

New legislative changes will also not impact you if:
- You have already submitted an application for specified categories of permanent residence and RERC, and it is subsequently granted.
- You currently hold a valid right to reside permanently, leave to remain, a relevant Certificate, or a grant of asylum.

The legislation will take effect on Friday, 1 May 2026.
