The drive home from Aiken is a long one. You’re either crying or turning up your favorite Trap Music. I’be been on both ends of that on the hwy many, many times. This one definitely included an assortment of all our favorite 2010 rap stars after a positive weekend. ❤️ (For those of us west of Atlanta, you take a long hwy with like two exits for food and gas in a two and a half hour straight line. You have a while to sit with one feeling or the other.
.
But, I tagged along with cullendean.equestrian who was shooting for her engaged.media_ at Stableview . Swatch fit in two cross-country schools before he runs the Intermediate at Bouckaert next weekend. Here’s the thing. Yes, he had a fantastic winter at Intermediate with one bobble at the end of our season, he’s since run two lower events well, winning, but I just hadn’t been in a xc schooling setting since April. I wasn’t quite sure if the homework was enough to be 100% “on” next weekend. The sport is to dangerous and he’s to special to wish I’d done more once I got on course.
.
And it was perfect. On Saturday he was definitely on, but it took a moment to get my “eye” focused and maybe there was an ounce of uncertainty on my end. I started a little slow. Then, we came back out today and started where I finished yesterday. The rhythm, the rideability, the extra notch of positive riding . We just needed that repetition and practice. We’d called our favorite Aiken rider infinitysporthorse who kept us both positive .
.
It’s hard. I’ve done a lot this past two month with saddles, two lower level competitions, two vet visits to insure we’re all good to go… Lessons and travelling offsite are the easiest things for me to knock off the list when I’m close at the end of the month. But, I can’t if I’m going to go compete.
