So you want to work with brands? (Reflecting on some of my content 🥹)

Part of almost every professional rider’s journey is attempting to add to the Sponsor banner, hoping for a list of brands a mile long to hang up by your peers at shows. I had a stunning one 😅
.
When I first started creating content, I jumped on this. Even though my professional resume was small, I knew a little more about social media and marketing and watched the fashion girls chronically, so I was able to earn an impressive list of brands to place on my banner.
.
While there is a huge benefit of free product, I didn’t buy shampoo for a few years,there’s also a price to pay when signing to a brand as a sponsored rider. For those long-term contracts, I couldn’t share another supplement I may have liked that competed with my brand, I was a little limited in showing apparel. What if I found a product I liked a little better than the one I was supposed to be wearing?

There was also the factor of were these adding to my career as a rider or just inflating my ego.
.
Creating brand partnerships has been a huge part of my riding career. But, on the other end I now really limit the partners I want to work with realizing how important it is for it to be the right fit, and am very cognizant of the long-term implication and requirements of such.

The list of brands are shorter now, but creating the content is easy. It’s authentic, it’s what I really like and would/have purchased myself. 
.
When you’re aspiring young rider, sometimes you don’t think about the cost to work with brands. And there is one if it’s not the right fit .
